Dr. Zhou founded our holding company, Octillion Energy Holdings, Inc. (formerly known as SinoElectric Powertrain Corporation) and our U.S. subsidiary, Octillion Power Systems,Inc. (formerly known as SinoElectric Powertrain, Inc. and SinoEV Technologies, Inc.) (“Octillion US”), to conduct R&D actitivies in the United States, in October 2009. By December 31, 2022, our battery systems have powered approximately a million EVs in China.
Dr. Peng Zhou is our co-founder[, chairman and chief executive officer]. Dr. Zhou graduated from his bachelor’s degree in solid mechanics and master’s degree in engineering from the University of Science and Technology of China in July 1995 and July 1997, respectively. Dr. Zhou further obtained his PhD in mechanical engineering and electrical ngineering (minor) from Leland Stanford Junior University in the US, in January 2002. Dr. Zhou has over [17] years of experience in the [power battery] industry. Dr. Zhou previously served as Chief engineer in Tesla, Inc. from 2007 to 2008, primarily responsible for the design and development of the company’s Roadster, Model S and SMART battery systems.
As of June 30, 2023, we had 1,151 employees. As of June 30, 2023, our EDD team consisted of 342 members. The majority of our employees are in China. We have six manufacturing facilities in China and two manufacturing facilities in India, we also have an application support and prototyping facility in the United States.
As of June 30, 2023, we possessed 122 utility patents, 637 design patents and 17 software copyrights. Our patents cover multiple key battery system technologies, including liquid-cooling systems, battery thermal runway detecting systems, thermal management modules, battery safety monitoring systems, and overcharging prevention techniques.
We employ strict quality control procedures at each stage of design and production process in accordance with IATF 16949:2016 quality management standards to help ensure consistency of our product quality and compliance with our internal production benchmarks.
